Tara Stiles – Teaching Us About The Yoga Lifestyle

Some may not realise that yoga is not just the practice of asana, but a whole lifestyle. The Yoga life includes the asana which is usually practiced to stretch the body before meditation, the meditation itself that is a whole new world and many other things. Part of this lifestyle is that we do not harm others which incorporates not eating meat or flesh. A vegetarian lifestyle can be very fulfilling and rewarding, but we do need to be sure that we get all the nutrients we need.

When I first tried vegetarian foods, I was bored with baked or steamed vegetables, but there is a lot more out there. There are some ideas in here that I would never have thought of, but they really work.

Tara takes us through her thoughts on food and what she knows works. But the difference is that she helps us to make our own rules too. Helping us to ease into eating a healthier plant-based diet, while making sure we still get some treats makes it easier to stick to those rules. All recipes are vegetarian and made using simple ingredients and kitchen gadgets, although a Vitamix would help.

Through this book we get to know how Tara thinks and lives her life, which is quite achievable for the regular yogis. She shares yoga routines and meditation guides as well as some background on how she grew up and what drew her to yoga (I always love hearing stories of why people start practicing).

What I love most is that Tara confirms my theory that you really need to listen to your body. No-one else knows what you are feeling. Improvement will happen with practice in both diet and yoga.

A very important part of the book for me is that she gives you the real reasons, no matter how much it would hurt to share her stories. Tara is an amazing young woman who has gone above and beyond to serve her tribe and to make her knowledge and passion accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world.

The main take away for me is that every little bit helps. A little meditation in the morning, perhaps a little practice of yoga asana at night and sneak in the healthy food until it becomes normal.

I would recommend this book for people new to the yoga lifestyle or for those who want some fresh ideas on how to create delicious, easy vegetarian recipes. Enjoy and please let me know your favourite dishes.

Thus, rather than burning carbs for energy, your body starts feeding off of stored fat. It also lowers insulin levels which causes your kidneys to shed excess sodium and water out of your body. This further reduces bloat and unnecessary water weight.

2. Eat Protein, Fat and Vegetables – Each meal that you intake should constitute a protein source, a fat source and vegetables (low in carbs). The best sources of protein are meat, fish and seafood, and eggs. High protein diets have proven to reduce cravings and obsessive thoughts by food and thus, reduces the desire for late-night snacking by half. Don’t give a second thought about loading your plate with low-carb vegetables. A diet based on meat and vegetables contains all fibres, minerals, and vitamins which keep you healthy. Your fat source can be from olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, and butter. If you’d try low-carb and low-fat at the same, the diet would result in a failure.

3. Lift Weights 3 Times per Week – You need not exercise to lose weight, however, it is recommended. The best option is to go to the gym 3 times a week or 4 at the maximum. All you need to do is a warm-up and lift some weights. When you lift weights, you’ll burn calories and also prevent your metabolism from going down, which is a common side effect of losing weight. A lifestyle entrepreneur is someone who is tired of living the template lifestyle that most people have accepted and has decided to create a lifestyle by design. This person has a passion to do something and wants to make a living at it even if that means they are not going to make a fortune doing it. Deciding to pursue your passion in life and make money from doing it gives a person the freedom and feeling of being alive that rarely comes from working a job just to earn money to pay for things that you hardly ever use anyway. Take some time to reflect on what is really important in your life, this will give you the motivation to start your new journey toward a new beginning. A lifestyle entrepreneur might want to travel the world or just be able to spend more time with their family instead of spending 8 – 12 hours a day at work and a couple of hours in traffic everyday.

Anyone can become a lifestyle entrepreneur all they have to do is have a passion for something that they are willing to put some work into to develop and share with others. You can still keep your job while working on your ideas and make the transition to full-time “whatever” when the time is right.

To get started on your passion do some research on what you love by coming up with keywords and start “Googling”. Read as many blogs and articles about your subject as you can then figure out where you can fit yourself in to offer value to people. There is plenty of information on the web about how to set up a blog and market your product or service.

The definition of a lifestyle entrepreneur is whatever you create it to be as long as you are following your passion and living life on your own terms to the degree that you feel comfortable with.
